Braai Menu: Open-Fire Meat from Our Own Butchery, Cape Town

Every cut of meat at Kronendal 1713 comes from our own butchery and is grilled over open fire in our open-air kitchen. Grilled steaks, braai classics and African-inspired dishes, in a Cape Dutch National Monument on an estate granted in 1713, built around flame, simplicity and sharing.

Questions

Where does your meat come from?

Our own butchery. Every cut on the braai menu is prepared in house.

What is a braai restaurant?

A braai is the South African open-fire barbecue. At Kronendal 1713 every cut is cooked over live flame in our open-air kitchen, in a Cape Dutch National Monument on an estate granted in 1713.

Do you do grilled steaks?

Five, all grilled over open fire: a 300g sirloin or rump, a 200g fillet, a 400g ribeye, an 800g T-bone and a 1.2kg tomahawk. The sides come off the same fire.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Flame-grilled vegetables, fire-roasted corn, Bavarian radish, coleslaw and the Bavarian bretzel are all vegetarian.

What is the best thing to order for a group?

The 1.2kg Tomahawk or the 800g T-Bone. Both are priced lower if you let us film it for @kronendal1713.

The bar runs ten taps, all of them imported, in the Irish pub bar. That list is on the beer menu. To eat with us, book a table.
