Kronendal is a Cape Dutch manor on a National Monument site in Hout Bay. The land grant dates to 1713 and the house standing here today was built around 1800. These photographs show the rooms as they are now, furnished piece by piece with antiques bought at auctions across South Africa. Nothing here was chosen from a catalogue.
The rest of the gallery covers the working parts of the place: the open fire and the food that comes off it, the bar, the terrace and the beer garden as they fill on a Friday evening.
See what comes off the fire on our braai menu, or book a table.
